Excitement around the construction of a meetinghouse in Ashburton, New Zealand continues with an article in the Ashburton Guardian yesterday chronicling the placement of the new building’s spire.
“A church that has one of Ashburton’s fastest growing congregations was yesterday quite literally reaching for the sky,” reported the Guardian referring to the spire hoisted in place on the new meetinghouse on Racecourse Road being built by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The Guardian article continued, “Over the past seven years the Church’s congregation has undergone immense growth, sparking the need for a new and much larger meeting space.”
The building, similar in design to others built around the world by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, includes a chapel, cultural centre, classrooms and offices for local leaders.
Upon completion of the meetinghouse, it will be opened for public tours.
